Our Commitment

Shakes is committed to making pureshakes.co.uk accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard.

This statement applies to the website at pureshakes.co.uk.

What We’ve Done

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be reached and activated by keyboard. A visible skip-to-content link appears on keyboard focus.
  • Screen reader support — semantic HTML5 landmarks, descriptive alt text on images, and ARIA labels on icon-only controls.
  • Colour contrast — text meets a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against background. Important UI elements meet 3:1.
  • Resizable text — text scales correctly up to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality.
  • Reduced motion — animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion system setting. Motion is replaced with simple opacity transitions.
  • Focus indicators — visible focus rings on all interactive elements.
  • No auto-play audio — the hero video plays silently and muted only.

Known Issues

We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:

  • Some complex interactive components (animated menu accordions) may not announce state changes consistently in all screen reader + browser combinations. We are reviewing these.
  • Video content does not currently have captions. No spoken content is present; music/atmosphere only.

If you find an issue not listed here, please let us know.

Compatibility

We have tested pureshakes.co.uk with the following combinations:

  • Chrome + VoiceOver (macOS)
  • Safari + VoiceOver (iOS)
  • Chrome + TalkBack (Android)
  • Firefox + NVDA (Windows)

The site is designed to work in all modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop and mobile devices.
